The PSJL Universal Design Group (UDG) is developing new cutting edge technologies for processing personal AV content recorded by quickly-proliferating and increasingly omnipresent AV capture devices. Our focus is on metadata-enabled AV processing, including metadata generation, understanding, and utilization. The goal is to provide technology for future products and services such as always-on personal wearable and autonomous cameras and viewers.

We are also developing technologies for intuitive user interfaces for future networked CE devices to improve the user experience and offer new functionality at home, in the car, and on-the-go. Our focus is on developing context-aware interaction where context awareness includes awareness of other devices, available services, and presence and identity of users.

UDG is working closely with the Technology Collaboration Group (TCG), the Panasonic Venture Group (PVG) of PSJL and our corporate R&D partners in Japan.
